AllDoCube KNote 8 Unboxing & Hands-On Review Core M3-7Y30 2-in-1 Windows Tablet

AllDoCube KNote 8 Unboxing & Hands-On Review Core M3-7Y30 2-in-1 Windows Tablet Hi guys Chris here back with anothertablet so I've not given up on tablets yet and neither has AllDoCubeChinese manufacturer previously known as cube so this is the KNote 8it's a 13.3 inch Windows 10 tablet that has a fully laminated screen on therewith a resolution of 2560 by 1440 it's powered by an Intel Core m3 -7Y30 sothat should give us some reasonable power a lot more powerful than thetypical Intel Celeron the Apollo 8 that I commonly review this is about twicethe power of this it's got eight gigabytes of RAM which is great to see256 gigabytes of storage you can buy an optional keyboard for it which I happento have right here to unbox and check out and a stylus now the stylus I don'tcurrently have so I'll start off here with the power supply so this isindividually boxed which is unusual normally they come within the actual boxof the tablet and you can see it's got the two-prong style and this is rated to12 volts 2.5 amps and it has that three millimeter plug on the end of it soit'll be positive in the middle and negative on the outside but you shouldalso be able to charge this tablet with type C with the type C port on it butI'll check that out in this video so the keyboard is known as the model number CD K 11 don't know why they've called it that and it is a backlit keyboard soit's a type cover style so similar to like a Microsoft Surface pro 3 or the 4and you can see there's the keyboard shortcuts and it does have gesturesaccording to this information guide here so the keyboard is actually lookingreally good the build quality is excellent it's right up there now thekeys themselves they have a matte plastic the paint job you can see that'sgray and here's the shortcut there you can see on the Zed there so you have touse only function Zed there to get the backlit keyboard to turn that on and thetouch pad is of reasonable size it has a smooth feel to it and clicky left andright mouse buttons so we've got shortcuts here for pretty mucheverything you can think of at least we've got the home page up and down andin keys here delete right there and also a Print Screen button which I reallike to have controls here for these screen brightness as well and thenvolume and media control so now the travel on these keys seems quite goodbut it looks like the keyboard does not actually have another level to prop itup so normally there's another like magnets in here so you can clip it inand then prop it up to another level but I'll show you what the keyboard lookslike attached to the tablet of course but before I show you them together Ijust wanted to show you the underside of it so it's made again with this mattecoated rubber to it now let's take a look what we get inside the box sorather large tablet of course 13.3 inches and it feels rather heavy butI'll put that too aside for just a second and have a look what else we getin here so hopefully this says a USB 3 hub in here that would be nice and I cansee this is just for obviously instruction manuals leaflet whatnot Idon't look and see what we get so k note 8 and possibly all of us is in Chineseyes it is so there's just outlining where the buttons are what the ports owneverything like that is pretty straightforward and lastly in the boxwe've got a Type C 2 USB 3 Delta ok so just quickly check the weight ofit before we have a look at the build of the tablet so it's one point zero 5kilos while that is quite heavy for a tablet and then of course the keyboardwhich most people would probably have with them and that brings the total upto one point four four kilos so rather heavy for a tablet so taking a look atthe thickness now of it there's a course with the keyboard so that's 16millimeters and then without that keyboard on it it's 10 millimeters whichis not bad at all for a corium powered tablet so you can see the tablet it'sgot rather large bezels on it down the bottom we have the poco port of coursethat's for the keyboard and then we have a camera at the top so this camera atthe top here this is 2 megapixels and either side a little bit hard to makeout on camera here there are two little holes so that's jewel ray microphoneswhich is great to see here so hopefully the sound quality should be good whenrecording or using the webcam and on the back there's also a 5 megapixelautofocus camera on the left side is where you'll find all the ports sofirstly we have dcn for charging of course then type-c USB3.1 so their supports data video and charging I will check that out on thisvideo 3.5 millimeter headphone jack this of course is a micro SD card slot andthen that little grill you can see towards the bottom that is one of thetwo loudspeakers that is side facing ones hopefully they're not gonna besuper weak and bad like the K note was so we have metal volume up and down andpower buttons they have originally a good feel to them not bad at allnow this here the frame this part of the frame is actually made out of plastic sothis part here in this part here so the whole frame around it is made out ofplastic however the rear material so this right here that is metal which hasgot a plastic protector on its to stop it from getting scratched up in thefactory and in transit and you'll also notice that where the hinge comes up ifI can get it up there's a little gap on either side to get your fingernail andand then that comes up and you see this hinge mechanism as well this is alsomade out of metal and overall the build quality does feel decent this part hereagain is metal so the kickstand is a multi-position one but it doesn'tactually recline back that far so it's definitely not an surface pro territorythere that's the maximum angle you can get which I feel probably most peoplewould use this angle right here so it's a shame that it doesn't go right back ifit could go right back then that we've better of course with a stylus use soI'll just show you now how it docks in with the keyboard there are magnetsthere but it doesn't clip in as good as some other keyboards you have to give ita little bit of a helping hand there so I've just powered it on and gonestraight into the BIOS this gives you good idea of those large bezels this hasso with a sixteen by nine screen and the weight of this tablet - you do need somebezel around it but it would be nice if they trim down perhaps the bezels oneither side and made it a little smaller so here are the BIOS you can see that itis in fact fully unlocked which is really good I've just had a quick lookat this so we have power limits disabled on this so you can see it whateverParliament you want but of course do this with a lot of caution because if itgets too hot it will overheat any definitely just reseeding or somethinglike that so you have to be very careful I don't know the thermals on this at themoment so I don't know if it's possible to tweak those powerlimits to help boost performance hold the turbos a lot higher for longer andone other thing also that I noticed is there's Thunderbolt configuration herebut it is disabled so I don't know where their neighboring this is going toactually work probably won't because I don't believe this has thunderbolt sorryhardware on here will be nice of it did and your various other settings in herea lot of these of course can get you into trouble so I recommend just nottouching them at all and leaving it but it's great to have these options here sohere's a quick look at that keyboard now backlit and all you can do is justsimply turn the backlighting on or off now it's not an area of the camera atthe moment it is actually a darkish blue almost purple like backlight on thiswhich is a nice change here and it does look good it's sufficient enough butit's not super bright the back lights on them and each key is individually lit uphere you can actually see the two LEDs behind most of the keys there at thecurrent angle I have my camera now straight away I've discovered somethingrather stupid I think it's probably a design flaw perhaps or just the way thePCB layout is with a micro SD card reader but a little bit hard to make outon camera here so what's happened is I've accidentally somehow pushed themicro SD card in between the rear case and then the actual slot is inside therenow you can see just how bad this design has this should not happen this is areal crappy micro SD card slot you can see my micro SD card I've managed to getit using a needle to about here hopefully now I can just pull that outbut it's still gonna be a real struggle so this slot the design of it is badreally bad or it's so luckily disaster avoided here but have a look at this youcan see how where the SD card reader is look there's a gap either side so youhave to use the inner one and somehow when I push it in here it went to theouter gap there which is actually the gap between the outer part of the middleof the card reader and then the case right here so this is really bad and ifI push it in like this hopefully that's going to get it in there properly I havea little bit scared now to put micro SD cards in this tablet okay so let's takea look at the screen so first impressions it's very good it's a lotbetter than the keynote screen it's much bio right now I'm on oneperceived brightness and I've just turned down the ISO of my camera so Ican capture the screen correctly now the screen responds and the touch accuracyto me it's really good this is not bad at all I can minimize maximize thingsperfectly fine and just having a look at the colors to the reproduction on thescreen is really good deep blacks - because it's fully laminated you knowgoing to get reflections or sometimes with the non laminated panels thoseblacks often look gray instead of a nice deep black but here you can see good nowthese this is a very saturated red naturally actually when I took thisphoto this was with a samsung galaxy note 4 and yeah it's coming out exactlyhow I remember it and all of these Volkswagens here this is looking good -a nice screen so we have a look at a few other things here with the tablet sowe've got enter wireless AC city 165 this is a very common chipset it's not abad chipset it gets a maximum normally of around about 400 megabits per seconddepending of course on your wireless router that you have you need wirelessAC for that too now let's the SSD drive as a setter ishiss D so it doesn't mention what brand of SSD it is but I know from experiencethat when it just says SATA SSD that's are gonna be for C or B when brand sothese are manufacturers in China that manufactures these SSDs it will be 22 by42 m2 spec the drive and these are the speeds you can see right here so theseare actually fine perfectly fine I mean the writes aren't the fastest you willsee for SATA 3 spec but the MDOT twos spec tends to be a little bit slowerbecause they are smaller now you get free space 220 gigabytes and you can seehere that it's telling us that it's got 10 touch points the screen and pinsupport but unfortunately I don't have the stylus for it but it will be astylus that's 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity so very similar to thestylus that is used by the Chui a chai 13 for example it's not a bad stylus Idon't know whether I will be reviewing it or actually get that stylus but itcertainly won't be good as the Wacom styluses or the intricacies you'll findon the Microsoft Surface product for example I one more positive here - sowhile ram is running in dual channels they're going to get the full memorybandwidth and the speed as well 1866 megahertz is what it should read sothat's better than some coring trees they set the RAM toonly 1600 megahertz you missing out on a little bit of speed here but not here atleast now one thing I wanted to point out here with the screen like okay I'mrunning it at 100% brightness and you're probably thinking why are you doing thatI'm having an issue with the camera of my camera at least that if I set thisfor example to 100% sorry to 0% this is really super done which is great butlook what happens around 25% 50 you're seeing this shimmering and flickeringnow this is some pulse width modulation is causing this now it's not happeningin person so me looking at the screen at different angles I cannot see anyflickering at all on the screen it's just happening on camera here and I alsoknow that the maximum brightness I did measure it with my little meter that Ihave here and it comes out at a very healthy 415 lux which is really goodthis is a massive step up from the 220 lux that I had on the K note the firstversion the 11.6 inch version of this tablet with the Apollo Lake so I've justbeen keeping an eye on the battery while I've been using it it did come out witha hundred percent battery and here you can see that I'm down to well what arewe now eighty-eight percent and I've only had it on for eight minutes at themoment that since 92 percent but of course this is 100 percent of screenbrightness and it's reporting a total time of that battery being around 3hours and 47 minutes which I happen to believe so hopefully with the brightnessdown we're probably only looking at about five hours maybe six but the coinsfreeze they tend to not have very good battery life it seems to be the casewith all of them that I have reviewed and you see the battery capacity righthere so it is 41 watt hours so that works out to be I think around 11,000milliamp hours the size of the battery that's in here which seems fair enoughbut they could have put something a little bit larger and considering thisis a 13.3 inch tablet so I've plugged in my have it type Chubby and I can confirm that I'm getting charging display out up to 4k 30 Hertzand data all at the same time so that is good to see no problems with that portthere so if you have a power delivery PD supporttype-c charger then you're able to use that to charge the tablet as well okayso just a comment on this touchpad while the size of it is alright sadly it doesnot support Windows precision drivers and I find the accuracy with the finermovements to be a little fiddly it's not quite as good as I would like it and sofar not ended really an enjoyable touchpad to use it's very average soI've done a little bit of typing now on this keyboard and I must say it isactually really nice to type on and do like it and very firm of course I justwish that we could prop it up that extra level as I mentioned before all right sotime to check out the side firing speakers now hopefully they're gonnahave more volume and a bit of bass to them and not be as bad as the keynotespeakers so let's test them out okay alright so they've got some bass tothem which is great but they are lacking volume they still should be quite a bitmore louder than that but they are however an improvement over the K notespathetic speakers that it had in there so at least these are marginally betternow if you use something like a DX audio enhancer or other software you should beable to boost that volume up a bit and make it sound better and so I'm goodnews here for people that want to run Linux on here everything i've tested isworking so the brightness controls here for the screen the audio controls thetouchpad is working the screen touch is also working everything wireless it'sall working which is good to see okay guys so that is the K note 8 there fromaudio cube and overall as a package I feel yes it is nice the keyboard is verynice to type on it's backlit which is great to see cuz often we don't havebacklit keyboards hardly ever on tablets there's been a few that I have seen butnot many touch pad mmm front barrel very poor don't like the touch pad no notgood it's just the finer movements are frustrating and annoyingfor example highlighting text it's just a bit of a nightmare I didn't like how Igot really angry with it and I just used my mouse I thought no grab your mouseplug that in but then it comes to the problem with the ports you plug a mousein with the adapter and you can't plug in anything else so you have to getyourself a Type C hub now there's something of course that MacBook ownersmight be used to but I feel they should have put at least one full size USB 3port on here at least worth that USB 3.1 type C port would have been great sothere's a bit of a design floor in my unit the micro SD card slot doesn'tquite line up correctly so I managed to push that micro SD card as you saw andbehind the actual reader and get it stuck there and luckily I managed to getit out that is not good to happen at all the other thing is the speakers aren'treally as loud as I would like them to be they should be louder but the screenbrightness is really good it's fully laminated it's a very nice panel withthat higher resolution than just your typical 1080p and it's very obvious whenyou have a look at it close up that it's a bit sharper especially at thirteenpoint three inches I feel that if we had 1080pthat kind of size it wouldn't be good so it's good to have gone with a 1440pscreen deep blacks good color reproduction and the touch accuracy andresponsiveness also good in my books there and maxing out around 415 Lux isgreat for this type of panel so that's really nice that build quality overallis very decent as well with metal on the back and overall good package here butthe price of it as well so I mean this is selling for about about 550 us at themoment on gearbest comm and that to me it's just way too much really it shouldbe about a hundred us less and perhaps that even if it included the keyboardand the stylus would be a lot better now the stylus I don't know whether I'mgoing to be buying that to check that out but it should be very similar to thechewy HR 13 stylus and hopefully I will see you back in the channel with moreup-and-coming reviews on tech from China thank you so much for watching bye fornow .
